    Dear Journal,

Right now I am writing an essay. And I am not to sure that it is going to be too good. Here is a part of it.

Zionism and Palestinian nationalism play a large role in shedding light on the many theories of nationalism. Palestinian nationalism is the nationalism of the Arabs who claim that Palestine is for them. Zionism is when the Jewish people believe that Palestine is their home. The histories of Zionism and Palestinian nationalism help us understand the theories of nationalism. Smith and Anderson and Gellner each have theories that can help us understand the nationalist movement in Palestine.
Zionism helps shed light of the theories on nationalism because it supports the idea that nationalism is an imagined community. Zionism helps support the theory that nationalism is an imagined community because the Jewish people believe that Palestine is for the Jewish people only and that Jewish people belong there. This supports Anderson’s theory of imagined community saying that not every human belongs there and you have to imagine the community you are community. The Jews were trying to create Palestine the way that they wanted it to be, they were trying to take over Palestine and make it what they want to be; however, this is different from the Palestinian nationalist movement which rooted from the Jews coming over and taking over the land that the Arabs have created and made their own. The Palestinians did not like the fact that the Jewish people came over and essentially took over the land that they made with their own sweat and blood. The Palestinian movement describes Smith’s definition of a nation which is a community of history and culture which unifies a territory. It also is a movement that is to maintain the unity of an existing “potential” nation; which is what the Palestinian nationalism they are trying to protect what they have already created and their potential nation.
