Being punctual and being on time is one of the most important things to keep in mind when we are conducting ourselves in a professional setting. When somebody schedules a meeting at a certain time, we are expected to show up at that time, and not anytime later than the specified time. Keeping time and not being late shows respect towards the workplace, and also shows the dedication we are willing to give towards the workplace. It also shows that we are capable of being responsible. Therefore, being punctual represents that the individual is ready to be professional and committed. Punctual employees and workers exhibit a proper work ethics others can aspire to. Being late shows disrespect and carelessness on our part. If we are late, that means we are refusing to acknowledge a mutual agreement between two or more parties. This is not acceptable, as the specified time was scheduled for a reason. Being late can lead to resentment in workplaces because it signifies non-commitment, which can lead to division amongst the peers you work with. Also, being late means that you are out of the loop because you may have missed critical information. If one is consistently late and comes up with constant excuses, it will cause the person to lose trust in the workplace. The consequences of being late can also have personal effects. Being constantly will accumulate stress, will affect your job performance, and will ultimately lead you being fired. With that said, we should always keep in mind that being on time is always important. Being on time can be hard to do at times, but doing so will show others what a dedicated worker you are, which can lead to promotions and better opportunities at work.
